Spider Optimization
Optimization Types

The maxmerge, spanword and ngram optimization types can be manually implemented using mkvdk, although only the maxmerge and ngram types are beneficial. The maxmerge type is not available only when you use the -nooptimize option. The spanword type is no longer used for search processing by Information Server. The ngram type is used only when searches include double-ended wild-card searches, such as "*disk*".

For more information on mkvdk and the Verity optimization types, see the Verity Collection Building Guide.

IMPORTANT! If you are upgrading from a previous version of Information Server and you use the Verity command-line spider, you must re-index your documents. See "Re-indexing Required for Most Upgrades" for complete information.
