Supported Platforms and Configurations


Please review the following sections about platform, feature, and web server support.

IMPORTANT! In order to run the command-line Verity Spider V3.6 under Solaris, you must have the correct operating system patch. For more information, see "Solaris Patch Level" later in these notes.

Supported Platforms

The table below lists the supported platforms for Information Server V3.6. For each platform, feature availability is given for PDF filtering, Verity Locales Using LinguistX(TM), and KeyView Filtering. YES indicates that the feature is supported; NO indicates that the feature is not supported.

Feature Availability

PDF filtering-Supports filtering Acrobat PDF documents; used for indexing and viewing these documents.

Verity Locales Using LinguistX-The predefined locales have been developed by Information Server based on technology from Inxight LinguistX. The complete list of supported languages is: English, Danish, Finnish, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Norwegian (Bokmal and Nynorsk), Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish.

Verity Locales Using LinguistX are available from Verity and are licensed separately and shipped on a separate CD with the Verity Locales Using LinguistX Release Notes. For complete information about using Verity Locales, refer to the SEARCH'97 Information Server User's Guide, Chapter 14.

KeyView Filter Kit V1.1-Supports filtering documents in numerous formats; used for indexing and viewing these documents.

Supported Web Servers

Information Server is certified to run under the following servers and communications protocols:

Notes

For this release, Verity does not certify the following Netscape Web servers:

Information Server will run only under the CGI protocol for other web servers not listed as certified above. For more information about how to manually configure a non-certified web server, see "Configuring Other Web Servers" in Chapter 2 of these Product Notes.

NOTE: When you uninstall SEARCH'97 Information Server V3.6, and you were running with Internet Information Server V4.0, the Verity ISAPI filter authflt.dll is not removed. For more information, see "Internet Information Server V4.0 and authfilt.dll" later in these notes.
