There have been several changes made to the options available to Verity Spider. All command-line options are described in detail in Chapter 2, "Verity Spider Reference."
Discontinued Command-Line Options
Since version 3.1 of the Verity Spider, support for several options has been discontinued. Verity Spider V3.5
The -allold, -noupdate and -jobs options were discontinued in version 3.5 of the Verity Spider. They are no longer required because other options provide the same if not better functionality. The -restart option replaced -allold and -noupdate, while the functionality of -jobs was broken out to -connections and -indexers. Verity Spider V3.6
The -topicset and -nodns options are being discontinued.-nodns option was maintained in version 3.5 for backwards compatibility. The increased efficiency of the Verity Spider DNS lookups makes the -nodns option unnecessary.-topicset can be more efficiently handled by running mktopics in conjunction with the Verity Spider. You will find a simple example of using mktopics with the Verity Spider in Chapter 4.
