Omitting Optimization

You do not want the overhead of optimization during an indexing job, because you plan to do your own customization manually with mkvdk.

: vspider -cmdfile /verity/spider/solo.cmd

where solo.cmd consists of:

: -collection icd.coll
: -start http://www.mysite.com
: -nooptimize

Once the job has completed, you need to run mkvdk to optimize the collection. For example, you might run:

: mkvdk -collection icd.coll -optimize maxclean

Case-specific Options

Option	Reason
-nooptimize	Forces to forego optimization. Keep in mind that you should never leave a collection unoptimized for too long, as search times can begin to suffer.
