Songs Remaining Under Consideration
Next Round of Judging
Notes
At the ACIR's State Song Subcommittee meeting on July 7, 1999, the Subcommittee selected eight songs for further consideration in the contest based on the weighted scores the songs received from individual Subcommittee members in the third round of judging.
Listed below are the songs being considered for the new Virginia State Song. Listen to them and then use the feedback link to give us your opinion as to which song you think should be the new state song.
The RealAudio Player is needed to hear the songs. The free player can be downloaded by clicking on the RealAudio Icon below. After you click on the icon, you will be asked where you want to save the file (Save As). You can pick any place on your computer, but be sure it's a place you will remember, as you need to go to that file after it's finished downloading. To install the file after it downloads, run the file and simply follow the on-screen instructions. Your RealPlayer will then be ready to use, and will activate automatically when Real Content is accessed.
For more information on the RealPlayer, or to download updates, go to the RealPlayer website.
The Subcommittee has selected the following Grand Finalists. Each Song title and Song ID links to a RealAudio Performance of the song.

2/10/00: At its January 11, 2000 meeting, the ACIR accepted the State Song Subcommittee's recommendation to postpone the selection of a winner in the State Song Competition. The additional time will allow the Subcommittee to publicize the new arrangements of the eight grand finalist songs created by various college faculty members, and to receive additional comments about them from the general public.
Next Round of Judging: To Be Announced.
